Feeling Attractive Through The Illness!

Many of you may feel that you've lost your sex appeal due to the illness we suffer but I want you to know that you're still sexy and you can hang with the best of them. Even on the days that the pain is the worse still keep your head up and remember you're a woman, the most powerful being created. If you have or will have surgery to remove your uterus etc., I want you to know that it doesn't make you less of a woman. Just simply think of it this way....."Well, no more pain, cramps, bloating, or BLEEDING"....this is how I've dealt with it for six years now and believe it or not I feel sexier than ever!

Does the pain really go away

So, just when you think you've gotten through the pain which makes you bend over in agony and praying that it ends. Yet years for me have passed with mostly good days after my surgery however, the pain has found its way back into my life this is why I believe that Endometriosis never goes away.
I say to all my fellow women stay strong and try if you will to embrace this affliction because it is apart of us and we must love it as we love ourselves.

The cervix

Have you or are you getting ready to have a bi-lateral hysterectomy(removal of tubes, ovaries, uterus and maybe cervix) I want you to be aware that if you leave the cervix you're at a higher risk for cervical cancer. It's best to have it removed since it really no longer serves a purpose(meaning supporting the uterus.) Please understand that this is the only real function of the cervix so, no uterus, tubes and ovaries no real need to keep the cervix.

The spurs that hang around!

It has been my own personal experience that after multiple surgeries to remove the infected tissue there are micro spurs that hang out and wait to grow and become active again. So, the endo is never fully gotten. I just wanted you to all beware of this.

There can be a gift given with Endometriosis

I wanted to let my fellow women know not to give up on having a child or children. I say this because I was told that I was unable to conceive due to two things, one, because the Endo was very advanced and two, the medication I was given for treatment sent me into early menapause. When I was 23 I gave birth to a healthy baby girl who the doctors thought would never develop due to the treatments and for the damage to my uterus from having Endo at that time over three years, and therefore they would have to medically remove the fetus from my womb but, none of that happened and she's now 9. However, understand that you will need more bed rest than the average pregnant woman due to the uterus being weak and when out wear a maternity belt to help in releaseing pressure off the uterus. So, it's not over no matter what the Doctors say because your Faith and Hope out weighs the can nots.

If surgery is needed which is the best method?

I've been thinking about how and why are gynogologist using the Robotic surgery verses the Bikini cut to remove the female organs? I question how these organs can be removed through such tiny icisions...I believe it's because I've encountered several women who indicated after being told that they were having Robotic surgery ended up having the Binki cut or vaginal surgery due to certain orgains couldn't be removed Robotically so, they ended up having three to five incisions verses one straight line. I'm glad my surgeon did the Bikini verses Robotic; I've had Robotic to burn cells of Endo and was told it would be "less invasive" but to me the pain/recovery was more intense, it could've been due to how many surgeries I had, had prior. However, if had to do it again Robotics would never be a choice. I say all this because if you're a woman who has had many abdominal surgeries for Endo/Cervical Cancer Robotics may not be a wise choice but dicuss it in great depth with your Doctor.

Is Endometriosis ever really gone!

After having your uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries removed so that the Endometriosis won't grow back; research over the years has indicated it can grow back and attack the lungs, heart and even travel to the brain. So, this disease attacks the soft tissue organs in our bodies. As we hope for it not spreading it is a possibilty. I wrote this so that all my fellow women suffering from this disease will and are well informed due to your doctor may not tell you all the ends and outs. Please note this is not to freak you out because walking this path is stressful enough, I only again want to inform.
If you have any information that is new research or  old please share also feel to post comments.

Endometriosis and Cervical Cancer

Do you ever think that someone will ever come with a cure for this painful desease? Does anyone feel that the treatments last for a moment and the pain/heavy bleeding returns?

For the woman who have or had cervical cancer do you believe that the procedures and treatments are invasive or not really? Would you rather have the cervix removed versus saving it and undergoing treatments that may or may not work?

I am asking these questions because the last two always ran through my mind before my cervix was removed. The first question I am constantly asking myself, because there are so many of us suffering from this desease which no doctor seems to know how it comes about and how to cure it..... only ways to somewhat treat it.

Please reach out and share your thoughts.

Pain Medications

Just a piece of advice: Use caution when taking perscribed pain medicine such as Vicodine due to after a while they only dull the pain and not elevate it which causes you to ask for a higher dosage, which will result in an opioid dependency leading to addiction. So, try to find other pain medicines that don't have an addiction factor such as Tramadol or other analgesic pain medicines.

When Choosing Surgery

I have found that the traditional Laparoscopy is less invasive than the Robotic procedure. Firstly, with the traditional Laparoscopy you only have one insertion point which is the navel, where maybe two to three cuts will be made; where with the Robotic procedure there may be three to four entry points(ie. navel, lower right side, lower left side and upper right/left side, this procedure is suppose to be less invasive and less healing time. I found this to be untrue due to it took me two weeks longer to heal verses the traditional Laparoscopy which only took a two week recovery time. It is very important to research all surgical options due to the fact that more than one procedure may have to be conducted. You want to choose the one that will have less scar tissue, less recovery time, less pain and minimal scars. I often say I would rather have a surgeon control the instruments rather than a Robot.

The Medicine that helped Me for so many Years

Read this article ladies I think you'll benefit from it greatly. http://tinyurl.com/yb9ab7q

On the Rise and a HUSH topic.....

I am happy that I have made connections with other women who fight/battle this illness. However, why is that many women want to keep it "hush-hush"? Are they ashamed, feeling less than a woman or just keepin it private? I believe that if we share our experiences we will greatly be helping women who may have just been diagnosed. I have conducted some research and found that a large percentage of women being diagnosed are between the ages of 20-45. Come women and let's take charge of this thing called "ENDO". Let's talk, upport, suggest and comfort one another.
